Until
now small seeds such as Petunia, Lobelia and Carrots
could only be sowed singularly with great difficulty
and lots of patience. Commercial growers of plants use
sophisticated expensive machinery. Now with the use of
the Precision Seed Sower by applying gentle suction you
can quickly and accurately pick up and place tiny seeds
in plug trays and grow your own plants without disturbing
them by the 'pricking out' process. The Seed Sower comes
with 2 sizes of probes and a portable carry case , with
full operating instructions.
|
Place
the seeds in a white or light coloured saucer. If using
small seeds select the fine probe and connect it to the
flexible tube. Rest the end of the probe on the saucer
close to a seed, apply very gentle suction, the seed
will be picked up and you can place it over a plug or
seed tray. As soon as you stop the suction the seed will
drop off. For large and irregular shaped seeds such as
beetroot or marigolds use the large probe - it will be
much quicker than using your fingers.
|
You
can also make your own seed tapes using gummed or sticky
paper tape, place your seeds at the correct distance
apart or even sow two seeds at each station( to select
the strongest seedling when sprouted) make a small furrow
with the tip of the trowel in your garden bed, water
it well and cover with soil, the paper tape will rot
away in time and thinning out will not be required. The
seed sower is fitted with a 400 micron filter between
the mouth piece and the silicone tube. Clean periodically
by rinsing water through the mouthpiece end, using the
pressure from the cold water tap.

I
invented this seed sower because I had great difficulty
in picking up small seeds when growing an annual supply
of several hundred bedding plants. I hope you find it
as useful as I have. Happy Growing
