I specialise in copying old wooden architectural features mainly staircase parts such as newel posts, balusters and newel caps, for builders , joinery contractors and architects as well as private property owners. I offer a unique service to my customers as I go to site and make an in-situ working drawing of the newel or porch posts and take all dimensions as well as digital photographs, this enables me to re-produce the item to a true likeness. The benefit to the client is that the existing post will not have to be cut out from its position to provide the woodturner with a pattern.
I also re-produce new work from drawings or discussing designs with the prospective customer to give them something special or different. I have several letters on file from satisfied clients I am proud of the good working relationship I maintain with my customers who receive prompt and efficient service. Woodturning for films forms a fair part of my work the most recent job was making sailing ship belfry posts, pinrails and stair parts to the upper deck for the Hornblower t.v. series.
